Personal papers include field notes and diaries kept as a research biologist in Minnesota and Alaska, various membership cards, photographs, writings and correspondence. One box contains materials concerning the search for Clarence J. Rhode, regional director of the U.S. Bureau of Sport Fisheries and Wildlife, lost in a 1958 airplane crash. The collection also includes diary/journals and scrapbook, 1917-1928, of A.J. Sprague, Alaska Superintendent of Hatcheries and first Territorial Fish Commissioner. Ten boxes contain wildlife management literature and material primarily published by government agencies with some subject-related files used by Nelson as information files.
